Alas, there were no puppies this time, so Sweeps was a group of nice Veterans. It seems unfair to characterize Welsh Terriers as “Veterans” at only seven years old, since they are very much in the early prime of life!
Most of the group was in the 7-8 year-old range. My Best in Sweeps was a nice dog in good coat who moved well and definitely enjoyed getting back in the ring again. The Best of Opposite, a bitch very similar to the winner, wasn’t quite as good a mover as the winner. The eldest of the group, at almost 12 years old, had a good head and ears, sound movement and excellent teeth. As a lifelong performance dog, her clippered coat was impossible to evaluate, though. All five entries were a testament to the staying power of our breed - no “old age” here!
